National Neurosciences Centre Calcutta (NNC) is a joint association of Peerless Hospital and Neurosciences Foundation Bengal. It provides world class services in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuroanesthesiology & Critical Care, Pediatric Neurology, Neuropsychiatry, Speech Pathology and Neurophysiology. Neurological and Neurosurgical consultations by U.K., U.S.A and Canada based doctors are available at this facility. The Department is equipped with an 18 bedded ITU and a 42 bedded Ward entirely dedicated to neurological and neurosurgical patients.
The inauguration of NNC on the 15th December 1997 was a mixture of great personal emotion and excitement. In addition to the constant support of Peerless Hospital and our own staff there were three great men who were instrumental in providing fuel to the fire of our imagination.

Our DEPARTMENTS
NEUROLOGY
The faculty consists of more experience and senior consultant in the city. The faculty work as a department, though individual faculty members are given their individual outpatient days and are allowed to admit patients under their care.
NEUROSURGERY
The department of neurosurgery is a vibrant and enthusiastic department. The faculty are young but extremely skillful, being trained with the best of neurosurgeons of our times.
PAEDIATRIC NEUROLOGY
Pediatric neurology is a medical discipline that aims to confront and, as effectively as possible, treat the unique neurological problems associated with children.
NEURO CRITICAL CARE
The neuro intensive care unit is a composite unit looking after both neurology and neurosurgery patients. The unit looks after a wide variety of patients ranging from victims of neurotrauma, stroke patients and postoperative neurosurgical patients.
NEURO ANAESTHESIOLOGY
The department of neuroanesthesia and intensive care has been functional since December 2000. It presently has 4 full time consultants who share the responsibility of running the preanesthetic clinic ,acute and chronic pain services in addition to providing anesthesia services for various operations and interventional neuroradiology.
NEUROPSYCHIATRY
This is a specialist medical discipline involving the behavioral or psychological difficulties associated with known or suspected neurological conditions such as epilepsy, head injury, attention deficit disorder, dementia, tardive dyskinesia, atypical spells, irritability and any organic mental disorder.
SPEECH PATHOLOGY
Speech pathologists in a medical setting work with individuals whose oral motor, swallowing, cognitive-linguistic, speech, or language skills have been affected by a neurological event/disease, head/neck cancer, or possibly debilitation related to an underlying medical disease process.
